Earlier this week I attended a meeting at work about change and how things will change over the next 6 months, when don’t they! The meeting was kicked off with the video below, which isn’t new as it’s been around on the net for a while, but it’s just one of those presentations that just gets you thinking. Some of the facts just blew me away, they are not really that amazing when you think about them now, but they sure make made me think at the time

Great music too, think it’s from Last of the Mohican’s? and the Title always makes me smile :)

I think the babies around the world, MySpace and the fiber optics statistics were my favourites.

Late last year while on a week’s break in Fuerteventura I found myself sat in my favourite location of an afternoon, the “Blues Bar” contemplating many things, but the main one being what my next drink should be. Having had nearly a week of drinking San Miguel I was becoming tired and a little bloated of all the beer I had consumed and was looking for something different. Did I want a long drink, a short drink, a cocktail, something non alcoholic! the choices were endless and not helping my indecision. So after much swaying between “I have another beer”, “No make it an orange juice”, “Oh god I don’t know!” I left it in the hands of the barman, who smiled and walked away saying he knew exactly the drink for me.

He returned over 10 minutes later with a tall glass of what looked like crushed ice with bits in it! I asked what it was and he just smiled and said to try it, so not being one to turn down a challenge or a drink I did! The first thing I noticed before even getting the drink to my lips, was the smell of mint, so that was the bits in the glass! Next came the bitter sweet taste of the drink itself with the taste of mint mingled in and yes this definitely contained alcohol too! OK so what was it I asked and the answer was a Mojito!

Since then it has become one of my favourite drinks throughout the summer, well any time really but I have noticed that they don’t quite taste the same when made in a bar at home as they do on holiday! Can anyone tell me why that is?

I have also noticed that there are variations on the Mojito, depending on where you are, for example I asked for one in Spain and they add a dash of angostura bitters to reduce the sweetness. The basic ingredients are mint, rum, lime juice, sugar and soda water over crushed ice. If you fancy a different drink for a change I highly recommend trying a Mojito (or Mohito as it is known some places) or two!

Not your thing, then what drink is and why?

Cheers!

OK, at last I gave in and bought myself the new watch I’ve always wanted! I’ve taken a few macro shots of the watch face as I like the design, plus also to practice some Macro photography with my Kood Filters.

If interested the watch is the Tag Heuer Silver Aquaracer, Automatic which means it has no battery and winds itself up by the natural movement of your hand, apparently!

Think I must have a thing for watches like woman have a thing for shoes as have 3 now!

One happy, but now less wealthy guy here :)
