On His Back

Well we’ve arrived at 20 weeks and went for the scan yesterday and fingers crossed all is well so far. It was really good to see the baby, as only this weekend just gone Sarah started to feel it moving around and kicking her when she’s sat in a position it doesn’t like! I was amazed at just how clear the scans are as the picture above clearly shows the eyes, mouth and spine very clearly. Another shot also had a close up of the heart and not only could you see it beating, but you could see the four chambers of the heart and blood pumping around it, truly an amazing sight to see.

This scan also gave us the chance to find out the sex of the baby and we wanted to find out so we could plan ahead and in that read me decorating the nursery!! We wanted to know, but baby was having different ideas and getting into positions where the nurse was finding it very difficult to locate what sex it was. Eventually after a break between scans the baby had moved enough to show us it’s true identity and yes it’s a boy :)

So, Henry will have a little brother, I’ll be decorating the nursery ‘apple’ green and Sarah will be getting bigger and bigger over the next 20 weeks, before the little chap arrives. Yes we do have a name in mind, but that’s for nearer the time, but it is another classical name along the lines of Henry :)

Oh and because Sarah produces ‘Big’ babies, Henry was 9lb 4oz (4.2 kg) at birth, we have a 32 week scan to see how big this baby will be!

I’ve included the set of baby scans to date below and it’s amazing how quickly the baby has developed over 20 weeks, he’s already 25cm long.
